Android Application
The EMC Mobile Application for Android feature allows customers to view your home page, search for products, contact you, and display new products through the site feed option. The mobile application can be uploaded to the Android Market for greater public visibility and the convenience of distributing your application in a common place. With over 7.7 million android handsets sold in 2009 and an estimated 68 million by 2013, offering an android mobile application that helps users find and use your ecommerce website is becoming essential. In this month's newsletter we will show you step by step instructions for creating an Android application and uploading it to the Android Marketplace. 1) To begin the process click on Mobile Applications under the Marketing section of your Site Manager.. 2) Click on Android.. 
3) Enter a custom name for your mobile application (this is optional). 4) To change the application icon from the default either pick one from the library or upload one from your computer. 5) Click Next. If you have a Google Analytics account you can use it to track visitor statistics of your web application. If you have a Flurry Analytics account you can use it to track visitor statistics of your web application. 6) Click Next. Select which menu items you want available in your application. 
7) Click Next. Click Package when you are ready to create your Android Application. 8) When completed, click Download. Several dialog boxes will appear. Choose to save them all in the same location so that you can find them easily later (like your desktop or download folder). 
Next you will need to upload your application to the Android Marketplace. 
1) If you already have an account, enter your email and password and click Sign In. If you do not have an account yet, click Create an account now. (There is one time registration fee of $25.00) 2) Once you are logged in you can click Upload Application in the bottom right corner of the page. 
3) Under the "Upload .apk" file section, click Browse... Find the .apk file you downloaded from Site Manager. Then click Upload. 4) Under the "Screenshots" section, click Browse... and find the "320x480" screenshots. Upload the two provided. 5) Under the "High Resolution Application Icon" section, click Browse... and find the "android-512.png" file. Then click Upload. 6) All other assets sections are optional. But if you have a promotional graphic, feature graphic, or promotional video you can enter them here. 7) Enter the title and description of your application (website). Click Publish when you are ready to submit your application to the Android Marketplace. 8) On your Android device visit the Android Marketplace and search for your application name. (It may not show up right away.)
