Version 10 of the eMerchantClub eCommerce website introduces two new payment acceptance features:  PayPal Express Checkout and PayPal Payments Pro.  These PayPal services give you two additional ways to accept payments from your shoppers.

PayPal provides both services, giving peace of mind to both you and your shoppers.  Your shoppers get buyer protection, and you get the knowledge that PayPal keeps all of your orders secure.

The two services work differently from each other.  We will talk about PayPal Express Checkout (which costs only transaction fees, no monthly fees) first, and then we will learn about PayPal Payments Pro (which works like a merchant account and gateway, and has both monthly and transaction fees).

A shopper does not need to create an account on your site to use PayPal Express Checkout, and does need to register on your site to use PayPal Payments Pro.

PayPal Express Checkout

This PayPal service allows you to accept credit card payments on your site.  PayPal Express Checkout offers a 3-click checkout for your customers and does not require that your customer enter credit card information on your site, or for you to take any additional steps to process the card.

If your shopper already has a PayPal account, they do not need to enter any additional payment information.  The shopper merely clicks a Check out with PayPal button on your site, logs in to their PayPal account, authorizes the payment, and you have instant access to the payment.

This service has no monthly fee, only transaction fees:

PayPal Express Checkout Account

To create a PayPal Express Checkout account, go to the Increase sales with PayPal Express Checkout page, and click Sign Up Now!

You can upgrade your existing PayPal personal or premiere account, or create a new account if you do not already have a PayPal account.

When creating a new account, you will create a Business Account.

First, create the account, which takes only a few minutes.  Enter your business information, physical address, e-mail address, and your customer service information.

You will specify a category for your business (such as Home and garden), indicate an average transaction amount and monthly sales volume.

Type your eCommerce Website address in the Sales Venue box.

Add and confirm a bank account so that you can receive payments.

Next, verify the information.  If you have a business checking account, specify that account information.  To verify that you own the account, PayPal makes two small deposits into your account.  You verify you own the account by verifying the amounts of the deposits.

Get API Information

Before you can add PayPal Express Checkout to your storefront, you need to activate the API interface on your PayPal account.

Click API Access in the Account Information column.

Click View API Certificate in the Option 2 box.

Select the Request API signature button, and then click Agree and Submit.

On the View or Remove API Signature screen, you will find the API Username, API Password, and Signature.

You will copy-and-paste this information in to your Site Manager so that you can receive payments.

Add PayPal Express Checkout API to your Site

In your version 10 website’s Site Manager, click My Account.
