Advertising Display

Share/Save/Bookmark

The Internet today provides so many opportunities for ordinary people to make money from websites. These opportunities range from contextual advertising to affiliate marketing. Aside from just selling products on your website, you can make money from ads on your website!

The Advertising Display option allows you to put ads that pay you for placing them on your website.

There are 4 preset locations on your website that you will be able to enter ad code into, but you can put as many code snippets into each location that you like.

1) From Site Manager click on Store Profile under Appearance, and then Advertising Display.

2) Click the checkbox next to Show Advertising Display.

3) Scroll down to Area 1 if you wish to have your ad banner on your front page near the top and paste the code from the ad. (This will only show up on version 12 layouts).

You should put the ads in locations that people might click. Some common placements for ads are a leaderboard at the top of the page, or a skyscraper down the side. This diagram shows which areas are most effective for advertising. Different layouts will determine where areas 1-4 will actually show up on your page, so change your layout as needed.

If you don't already have your code to paste into these areas, you will need to sign up with various sites that provide ad code to use on your site.

There are typically 3 types of ad code you can use to generate money. We will provide 2 examples (PPC and PPA) that you can use on your site.

     * PPC (Pay Per Click) - Register as an advertising publisher to earn revenues when visitors click on ads; such as Google Adsense.

     * PPA (Pay Per Action) - Register as an affiliate or advertising publisher to earn revenues when visitors click on an ad and complete a purchase; such as Amazon Associates.

     * CPT (Cost Per Time) - Solicit and incorporate private advertising content and charge advertisers fixed periodic fees to display their ads on your site. This option can be the most difficult to find advertisers for, but guarantees a set income whether it performs well or not. You should provide an easy way for advertisers to pay on a separate page explaining how to sign up for this.
Location

There are thousands of sites that offer ads that you can put on your website.
Two popular ones are Google Adsense and Amazon Associates.

Google Google pays you for each ad link clicked on your website.

Amazon Amazon pays you for each item purchased through your ad link.

Display ads on your website can generate income for your website which you can keep or put right back into your business for advertising your own website. Carefully research the many programs available on the web to determine which one(s) are right for you and your business.
