eMerchantClub’s upcoming Version 10 eCommerce site will showcase many exciting new features. You will find the new shipping calculator feature offered in the Version 10 to be particularly beneficial if you carry your own inventory and ship out your own packages.
This new feature directly connects your Site Manager with UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service. This connection will allow you to easily calculate shipping costs for these major carriers in a few easy clicks. In addition to this capability, this feature also provides you with the tools to create a record of the packages which you’ve sent out for each order so you will have a consolidated place in your Site Manager to keep track of your packages.
Here is a preview of how this new feature will work. First, once you receive an order on your site, create a record of the package or packages for that order. Each order will have a link to the package details screen for that order. Here is an example of this screen:

Next, you’ll create a package record for this order by clicking on the Create Package button.

The package record consists of the products’ sku, products’ names, the quantities, as well as the dimensions. If the product contains weight and dimension data then the package’s weight and dimension will get calculated based on these. Each order can have one or more packages associated with it. After choosing the quantities for the order, this is what the screen will look like:

You can then adjust the package weight or dimensions if needed. Clicking Apply creates a record of the package as shown below.

At this point, you can easily obtain shipping rates for UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service by clicking on the Rates link. On the page shown below, you can get the rates for all three carriers.

After selecting the packaging types and values, simply click on Get Rates. Here is an example of the displayed rates.

As you can see, this convenient feature provides accurate, up-to-date shipping rates on one page in just a few clicks. Once you decide on which shipping method you’d like to use, you can choose it here to complete the record of your package. Below is an example of a completed package record.

Hopefully, this preview has given you an idea of how this new works. This feature can be very useful and easy to use and will likely save you the time and cost it takes to go to multiple locations to figure out shipping costs. This feature gives you the valuable convenience of getting the shipping costs without ever leaving your Site Manager. In addition, the added benefit of having all of your package records in one centralized location for each order should reduce your paperwork and streamline your order fulfillment process.
